Welcome to the ALL NEW Play It Again Music Center web site. We request your patience, as we will be making constant changes, improvements and updates in the coming days and weeks.
The reason is quite simple. Play It Again Music Center, which has been serving beginner band students and professional musicians in the Austin, TX area for over 25 years now, has recently changed hands. Carol Scarlett, the founder and owner of the business since its inception in 1985 retired, effective January 1, 2012. The business, which she started out of her home, moved to 123 E. North Loop nearly 10 years ago, and shares space with Walter Hutcherson’s Musical Exchange and Austin Amplifier.
Effective Jan. 2, 2012, daily operations at Play It Again Music Center were transferred over to Peter Hubbard, a long-time jazz sax player and music lover. Although a relative new-comer to the Austin area (having moved here just 4 years ago), Hubbard is no stranger to the music business.
While living in Houston, he successfully ran Horns Unlimited for 10 years, a business devoted to the repair and sales of quality used band instruments. Naturally, with any change in ownership … some things will remain the same, while other things will gradually change.
What We Do
Be assured … the primary mission of Play It Again Music Center will remain the same – sales and rental of high quality pre-owned band and orchestra instruments.
In addition, we will continue to provide Austin musicians with one of the finest repair services in all of Texas!
Play It Again Music Center also sells new instruments, primarily ukuleles, accordions, harmonicas, melodicas and some light percussion, including tambourines.
We will also continue stocking most of the accessories which band or orchestra students need;
